The open Pacific crashes along most of this stretch, and caution should be exercised here - most of the beach is not suitable for swimming and is quite dangerous. There is much more protection for swimming at the southern, Barra de Potosi end, where there is also a large lagoon where visitors can enjoy boat or kayak trips into the mangroves for birdwatching. Most enjoyable on these beaches are the opportunities for long and almost solitary beach walks, horseback riding along the sands, savoring spectacular sunsets over the Pacific waters, watching dolphins cavort wildly in the waves.and, at certain times during the winter season, seeing whales passing by offshore as they breach and spout.. |
